"H.de Vries" write me because when he try to install the pack on his drive "D:" it doesn't works !
He has an error message "Cannot run GFA-BASIC! See Readme-file for further assistance"
After some email exchange i found where is the pb: the file
"GFABASIC.INI" in "C:/WINDOWS/" contains the path for the GFA interpreter:
"Interpreter=C:\PROGRA~1\PACKGF~1.1\GFABASIC\GFA-WIN.438\GFAWIN37.EXE"
You have just (by using Notepad) to change "C:" in "D:" (or the letter of the drive where you have installing the pack),
then it works ! Thanks to him !

Add file "GFARUN10.DLL" patched for XP in "C:/Windows/"
- Modification of the GFABASIC.INI file (incorrect path): clearly version 1.00 of the pack was not working...

TIPS

"System\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers.VDD. Virtual Device Driver format in registry is invalid. Chose 'Close' to terminate the application"

In some cases, click on "Ignore" allows the program to run properly, but the error message continues to appear when you start 16-bit programs.

Run Regedit then open the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers\VDD.

In some cases this VDD key no more exist. If it exists, click to select it, then right click, choose "Delete".
Then you must then recreate it: In the "Edit" menu, point to "New" and click on "Multi-String Value." Type "VDD" in the "Value Name", then confirm with "Enter"

"Can't run 16-bits Windows Program"

If when you try to run a program, a dialog box containing the error "Can not run 16-bit Windows Program" appears on the screen, here's how to fix this problem due to non functioning of the creation of short file names:

Indeed, some programs, even recent, require the creation of short file names in order to remain compatible with the maximum of operating systems. To re-create the current filenames and correct this problem, you must modify the registry.

Run Regedit then open the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ System\ CurrentControlSet\ Control\ FileSystem.

Double click the value NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation then enter 0 in the Data text box value
Confirm with OK, close the Registry Editor and restart your computer to apply the change

If you are not familiar with the registry, you can simply run this small file that will automatically do the modificiation above!

"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications"

Find the file autoexec.nt in C:\windows\repair\ and copy it in the folder C:\windows\system32\

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32bit) or x64 (64bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."
